Halloween: be careful of those treats!

Many of us love Halloween and enjoy the ghost stories and local traditions that go along with it. However, as with every celebration there are things a dog lover should watch out for:

- Chocolate. Highly toxic to doggies.

- Jack-o-Lanterns. Those candle lit carved pumpkins can be knocked over by a wagging tail.

- Dog Halloween costumes. May not be designed by someone who understands that dogs like to chew and swallow anything unusual they might come into contact with.

- Trick or treaters. Young children wearing bright costumes, possibly unfamiliar with dogs, calling at your door can over excite your dog.

Happy Halloween DogIf you DO take your dog out trick or treating, keep him close. Ghosts LOVE dogs .....

Have a fun and safe Halloween, however you celebrate it.
